CoffeeBrain Launches to Build the Intelligence Layer for the Global Coffee Industry
CoffeeBrain AB today announces its official launch with a clear ambition: to become the operational intelligence platform that helps coffee industry stakeholders make better decisions through connected machine data, business data, and artificial intelligence.
The company was founded by Thomas Lindvall together with Lenera Group, combining deep industry expertise within connected coffee operations with proven experience in building and scaling technology-driven businesses.
CoffeeBrain addresses one of the industry’s most significant challenges: transforming machine connectivity into measurable business value. While connected coffee machines continue to generate increasing volumes of operational data, most organizations still struggle to turn that information into actionable insights that improve profitability, service quality, and operational efficiency.
CoffeeBrain was created to solve this problem.
From Machine Data to Business Intelligence
Unlike traditional telemetry platforms that focus primarily on machine monitoring,
CoffeeBrain combines machine data with ERP data and AI-driven analysis to provide real-time operational decision support.
The platform has been designed specifically to address the most critical challenges faced by modern coffee service organizations, including:
- Customer Service Optimization
- Technician Efficiency
- Incident Prioritization
- Coffee Sales Protection
- Automated Deliveries
- Fleet Optimization
- Dynamic Service Intervals
- OEM Performance Insights
- Profit per Active Machine (PAM)
By consolidating data from multiple machine manufacturers and integrating it with operational and financial information, CoffeeBrain enables service operators to move from reactive operations to proactive business management.
A New KPI for the Coffee Industry
At the center of the platform is Profit per Active Machine (PAM), a new operational
KPI developed to help operators understand the true profitability of their machine fleet.
By combining machine utilization, service costs, coffee consumption, logistics,
leasing costs, and revenue data, CoffeeBrain provides a comprehensive view of
business performance at machine level.
“We believe the industry has focused for too long on isolated metrics such as cups served, service cases, or machine uptime,” says Thomas Lindvall, Founder and CEO of CoffeeBrain.
“Profit per Active Machine changes the conversation. It allows operators to understand which machines, customers, and operational decisions actually create profitability. This becomes the foundation for smarter decisions across the entire business.”
Tommy Flemström, Co-Founder of CoffeeBrain and representative of Lenera Group, believes that connectivity alone will not be enough to create long-term competitive advantage.
“Within a few years, connected machines will be standard across the industry. Connectivity itself will become a commodity. The real value will come from the ability to combine machine data, business data and AI into better operational decisions. That is where CoffeeBrain creates a unique position.”
Building on Proven Experience
The vision behind CoffeeBrain builds on several years of practical experience working with connected coffee machines and digital services within the coffee industry.
The platform is a natural evolution of the concepts pioneered through Coffee Analytics, a solution that has already demonstrated the value of connected machine ecosystems and data-driven service management.
In recent months, discussions with multiple Nordic service operators have further
validated both the market need and the demand for a platform capable of integrating machine data, ERP systems, and AI into a single operational layer.
CoffeeBrain’s approach is built on a simple but powerful observation:
Machine data alone creates limited business value.
The real opportunity emerges when machine data is combined with operational and financial information, allowing organizations to optimize decisions across service, sales, logistics, customer support, and profitability management.
Co-Founded with Lenera Group
CoffeeBrain was established through a close partnership between founder and CEO Thomas Lindvall and Lenera Group, which has been involved since the earliest stages of the concept.
While Thomas brought years of experience from developing Coffee Analytics and advising coffee service operators across the Nordic market, Lenera Group helped transform the concept into a scalable company with international ambitions.
From day one, Lenera Group committed fully to validating both the technology and the market opportunity.
The partnership focused on three key areas:
- Validating the technical feasibility and scalability of the platform
- Conducting extensive market research and industry mapping across service operators, OEMs, and other stakeholders within the coffee ecosystem
- Securing the capital and long-term financing required to transform the concept into a global SaaS business
Tommy Flemström of Lenera Group was among the first to recognize the broader opportunity behind the concept.
“What immediately attracted us was that this was not simply another telemetry platform. We saw the opportunity to build a global SaaS company capable of becoming the intelligence layer for an entire industry.”
“As we engaged with service operators and industry stakeholders across the market, we repeatedly encountered the same challenges. Organizations had access to increasing amounts of machine data but lacked the tools needed to transform that data into better business decisions. The market validation confirmed that this is a global opportunity, not a local one.”
Today, Lenera Group remains a co-founder, shareholder, and strategic growth partner, supporting CoffeeBrain with capital, commercial expertise, and long-term strategic guidance as the company expands internationally.
Looking Ahead
Development of the platform is currently underway, with the first pilot deployment planned for Q4 2026.
The company’s long-term ambition is to become the operational standard layer connecting OEMs, service operators, roasters, and end customers across the global coffee ecosystem.
CoffeeBrain believes the coffee industry is approaching a fundamental shift in how connected operations are managed.
“We believe that within the next five years, every major service operator will manage a fully connected machine fleet,” says Thomas Lindvall.
“The winners will not be the companies with the most data. They will be the companies that can transform data into better decisions faster than their competitors. That is exactly what CoffeeBrain is built to do.”
